2026 International Cadet Tasmanian State Championship
Get ready for a spectacular weekend of youth sailing as the International Cadet Tasmanian State Championships set sail over the weekend from Friday 13th March at Sandy Bay Sailing Club.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the River Derwent, this championship brings together Tasmania’s best young sailors for three days of competitive racing, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments on the water.
⚓ Friday Night – Welcome & Championship Racing Begins
The weekend kicks off Friday evening with our first twilight race! Families and supporters are invited to gather for drinks and snacks while watching the action from the deck.
🌊 Saturday – Championship Racing Continues
Racing continues on Saturday, with fleets launching into the fresh Derwent breeze. Expect tight mark roundings, tactical battles, and plenty of action as crews compete for state honors. Off the water, the club will be open for spectators with fantastic views from the deck.
🏆 Sunday – Final Racing & Presentations
The regatta concludes on Sunday with final races that will decide the Tasmanian State Champions. As the fleet returns to shore, the excitement continues with the official presentation ceremony, celebrating outstanding performances, sportsmanship, and the spirit of the International Cadet class.

Don’t have a boat? No problem. Club Cadets are available for hire, making it easy for sailors from across Tasmania to take part in the championship. Availability is limited, so early enquiries are encouraged to secure your spot on the start line.
