Small, but Mighty. At the 2026 Australian Sailing Awards, our little club won TAS Club of the Year! Not only that, but we also took home Coach (Rohan Langford), Volunteer (Emma Hooper), Youth Sailor (Emma Hooper) and Sports Promotion of the Year. Way to go, SBSC!!!

Sandy Bay Sailing Club (SBSC) is a volunteer-run family sailing club situated on the picturesque Derwent River in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Well known for our friendly, welcoming environment, we offer lessons, training and racing for all skill levels and ages. Formed on 1 March 1948, we have grown to accommodate a wide range of dinghy classes including Optimist, International Cadet, Lasers, 29ers, Waszps and Windsurfer fleets.
