Volunteers Welcome

Sandy Bay Sailing Club appreciates and values all volunteers with their contribution vital to the successful running of on and off water events held at the club each year.

Volunteering is a great way to keep yourself active and at the same time to enjoy the benefits of being a part of the great community at SBSC. Our volunteers range from the dedicated who volunteer on a regular basis, to those who volunteer once or twice a year. Every little bit helps.  SBSC Volunteers are involved with both on-shore and on-water roles as a part of the many sailing and social activities, so there truly is something for everyone. Volunteers assist  in conducting the Sailing Program of the club in many different ways, from the highly qualified and experienced Race Officers on the water, to the patrol boat and mark laying assistants.

The list below will provide some insight into the many and varied roles that volunteers assist with throughout year:

  • Race Officers
  • Shore Patrol
  • Committee Boat (Recorders, timekeepers, flag signals, sound/signals)
  • Patrol / Mark Boat Skippers and crew ( Mark laying  and on water competitor assistance)
  • Canteen
  • Change Room Cleaning
  • Refuelling

If you are available to help with any of the above or think you have a skill that SBSC could benefit from please let us know. More information can be found through the links below:

New to Volunteering at SBSC?

If you are new to volunteering at Sandy Bay Sailing Club please send an email to Shona or our admin to be added to our volunteer system, Dutyman.

Need Help with Dutyman?

Dutyman is the online system we use to manage our jobs and volunteers. It’s a little clunky, but it gets the job done.

  1. Once you’ve emailed Shona or our Admin (see above), they’ll create a Dutyman account for you.
  2. You can then go to the Dutyman website here.
  3. Once there, it’ll likely say ‘broken link.’ Just click where it says ‘search for your club’ and search for Sandy Bay Sailing Club.
  4. That will take you to our page where you can then log-in.
  5. From there, you can select the volunteer tab in the right-hand panel of the roster page and follow the on-screen instructions.

If that all seems too complicated or you get stuck somewhere, fear not! Just email Shona on priorshona@gmail.com. She’ll help you out.

CANTEEN CREW

Are you a master chef or a supplies guru – we need you! Our canteen crew needs volunteers to chip in. If you have a few hours to spare, please contact one of the committee – more information available HERE.
