Seamanship Award

To recognise a sailor who has consistently demonstrated outstanding seamanship throughout the season or how they responded a specific incident.

Criteria:
Nominees should exemplify most or all of the following:
• Exceptional on-water decision-making and boat handling skills
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of safety and sailing rules
• Willingness to assist and support others on the water
• Calmness and leadership in challenging situations
• Consistent commitment to improving their seamanship and sailing.

Eligibility: Open to all member sailors of any age.

Best Junior Club Person Award

To acknowledge a junior sailor who has made a significant positive contribution to the culture and spirit of the club.
Criteria:
Nominees should demonstrate:
• Consistent participation and positive attitude at club events, training sessions, and regattas
• Sportsmanship and respectful behaviour toward peers, volunteers, and coaches
• Volunteering or assisting with club activities beyond sailing (e.g., helping younger sailors, assisting with events)
• Representing the club in a manner that reflects our values of community, respect, and inclusivity

Eligibility: Open to member sailors under 18 years of age.

The Lizzi Rountree Most Valuable Coach Award

To honour the coach who has made the most valuable impact on the development and experience of Sandy Bay’s junior sailors.
Criteria:
Nominees should demonstrate:
•⁠ ⁠A positive, encouraging, and inclusive coaching style
•⁠ ⁠Ability to inspire confidence, sportsmanship, and growth in junior sailors
•⁠ ⁠Commitment to the club and its values through consistent coaching involvement
•⁠ ⁠Going above and beyond in mentoring, supporting, and guiding young sailors
•⁠ ⁠A strong connection with sailors, fostering both skill development and enjoyment

Eligibility: Open to any coach (volunteer or paid) involved in junior coaching at the club during the past season.

Best Club Person Award

Presented to an individual on recognition of performing above and beyond the call of duty normally required by a club member , who has worked for the Benefit of the Club, tirelessly and without expectation of recognition. The ‘Best Club Person’ is someone who has made a REAL difference to the club over the past Year.

Eligibility: Must be a club member. Any age or role within the club.
